From The Woody’s Perch
“The rules of Golf”

1. If any part of a ball overhangs an OB boundary line with out actually touching inbounds it is by definition “In Bounds” does this same rule apply to determine if a ball is on the green? Example; A players ball lies off the putting green overhanging but not touching the green. A clump of mud adhering to the ball touches the green. Is the ball considered on the green?
2. A player marked the position of his ball with a coin, lifted the ball, and pressed down the coin with the sole of his putter. He walked to the edge of the green and then noticed that the coin had stuck to the sole of the putter. What is the ruling?
You will find the Answers to Woody’s Perch Quiz on the last page.

The Lighter Side
Submitted by Ron Hein
Eileen and her husband Bob went for counseling after 25 years of marriage.
When asked what the problem was, Eileen went into a passionate, painful tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the 25 years they had been married.
She went on and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire laundry list of unmet needs she had endured over the course of their marriage.
Finally, after allowing this to go on for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and after asking Eileen to stand, embraced her, unbuttoned her blouse and bra, put his hands on her (you know where’s) and massaged them thoroughly, while kissing her passionately as her husband Bob watched with a raised eyebrow!
Eileen silently buttoned up her blouse, and quietly sat down while basking in the glow of being highly aroused.
The therapist turned to Bob and said, 'This is what your wife needs at least three times a week.. Can you do this?'
Bob thought for a moment and replied, 'Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays, I play golf.
Tuesday Twilight league meeting held

Above Kenneth Gunter naps while Brandon Ketchum prepares notes for CCGA Tuesday twilight league meeting. Many issues were discussed with the flavor of the evening being how to make the competition more fair and competitive while making for fun. It was decided to pay three different formats than we have in years past. The league will play each format for 3 weeks for total 9 week season.
First 3 weeks will be played in the Chapman Alternate Shot format. Translation; It will still be two against two in the pairing like last year. Each player will tee-off then your twosome will play the best drive. You will then alternate shots. Meaning if you use player (a) drive then player (B) hit the next shot. You alternate shots through the green. Next Tee you both tee-off again and repeat the process through the nine holes of competition. Handicaps will be used (an average of the two Players combined)
2nd three weeks will be played in the Stableford format; Stableford scoring systems are stroke-play formats in which the high total wins, not the low. That's because in Stableford, your final score is not your stroke total, but rather the total points you have earned for your scores on each individual hole. For example, a par might be worth 1 point, a birdie 2. If you par the first hole and birdie the second, you've accrued 3 points. High score wins. A boggy would be 0 points and double boggy -1 and so on. Another example; say you dot or get a stroke on hole number #1 based on your handicap and you birdie the hole. That would be a net eagle worth 3 points! This makes the competition equal for all golfers.
3rd three weeks will be Match Play Singles match play pits Player A against Player B, hole after hole. If Player A scores a net 4 on the first hole while Player B records a net 5, Player A wins the hole. In the Ryder Cup, ties are called "halves" and are not played off (each side scores a half-point for their team). In Ryder Cup-style competitions, this is common. However, in singles match play tournaments
All the above of course is subject to change prior to league start. As you can see this makes the upcoming league more interesting and should be a blast to play. SO SIGN UP TODAY!!!

Answer to Woody’s Perch Quiz;
Answer to;
#1 No! In all references in determining if the ball is on the green in the rules and or definitions it refers to “touching” the green. If a ball is on the green as in the example question but not actually touching the green because it is perched on the mud on the ball it is however then considered to be on the green. Overhanging the green and not actually touching is off the green.16/1 decisions.
#2 Boy, here is one I would have missed. In this case, the movement of the ball-marker was directly attributable to the specific act of marking the position of the ball. Accordingly, no penalty is incurred and the ball or the ball-marker must be replaced. If the spot where the ball or ball-marker lay is not known, it must be placed as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole (Rule 20-3c).
